The midsole foam on these shoes is great! PWRRUN+ feels light and pillowy with some bounce instead of the sinking feeling you’d expect with such a cushy-feeling foam. The upper runs a little hot, has a cushioned (not *as* heavily cushioned as the K11) and gusseted tongue, provides good lockdown, and might not have enough room for someone with a high volume foot. The heel is cushioned, has some rigidity to it, and I had no problems with slippage or Achilles irritation. I, personally, like the grippy feel of the crystal rubber on dry concrete (some find it gummy), but it does get slippery on wet surfaces.

I had some trouble with tightness over the top of my foot and at the metatarsal area. This might be solved for some people by making a cut in the tongue gusseting near the forefoot. The Kinvara and Endorphin Shift both have the same gusseting but have a cut out from the midfoot to the forefoot. If you make the same cutout in the Freedom (unlacing the shoes and taking the insoles out before you do this makes it easier), you’ll get some extra space and give. I might even go further and cut into the stitches at the base of the tongue.

I’d recommend these for easy days/regular training runs, and maybe moderate tempos. They are great for drills, too!
