Meet Our Team
Luke’s Locker has what many retailers might call an “unrealistic” employment profile. Our standards are off-the-charts crazy. But we’re OK with that. Back in the running boom days of the early 1970s, that’s exactly what they said about founder Don Lucas. They thought he was crazy. People would see him running the streets around his neighborhood back then and shout, “Where’s the fire?” or “What’s the hurry?” In a nutshell, Luke’s Locker always has an eye open for unusually motivated people who love fitness, work well with others and are passionate about outstanding customer service. Houston Store Manager
Bert has worked for Luke's Locker for over 14 years through store management and footwear purchasing. He is very passionate about developing the fitness community of Houston. He enjoys running, swimming and playing sports with his daughters. He also enjoys event production and seeing people cross the finish line, whatever their goals may be.
Dallas Store Manager
Duncan is the committee lead on training and certifying Luke’s shoe gurus. He fell in love with the sport of running through track and cross country at the age of 14, and has remained passionate about the running industry ever since. With a keen eye for detail and a desire to understand mechanical problems through fellow runners, Duncan has developed good relationships with orthopedists, chiropractors and sports therapy pros. This wisdom has given him the tools to help figure out the most appropriate footwear for runners, walkers and cross-trainers.
Dallas Assistant Store Manager
Back in 1999, Jerry walked into a Luke’s Locker store to get a pair of running shoes. He came back the next evening to join the Social Run Group. And he’s been running with Luke’s ever since. Jerry has become one of Luke’s leading ambassadors of our customer-focused culture. He met his wife at Luke’s and has created many lifelong friendships with both Luke’s staff and Luke’s customers alike.
Dallas Store Manager
Judy moved to Dallas when she was 19 and was a flight attendant for Braniff Airlines. In 1999, looking for an interesting way to stay active, she started working the front counter at Luke’s. She fit the culture like a glove and worked her way up to becoming the Dallas Store Manager. She loves working for a family-owned business that is so passionate about customer service. When Judy’s not at Luke’s, you can find her cooking, sewing or cross-stitching. Some of Judy’s hand-sewn scarves and ornaments are sold at Luke’s.
Austin Store Manager
Rod was first a Luke's customer and then became an überfan of the Luke's brand and its standards for service and retail. In May of 2010, Rod earned the privilege of opening the Austin Luke's Locker location and jumped at the opportunity. “You only get one chance to make an impact on a market, and I am grateful for the opportunity,” Rod says. He takes pride in the products and training Luke’s Locker offers to the Austin walking, running and triathlon community. Besides running, Rod enjoys stand-up paddling and spending time with his family.
